Pastor William Pershing Davis, age 92, of Buford, died Sunday, July 10, 2011. He honorably served his country during WWII in the Army as a Sergeant and was a pastor for 18 years. Until his recent illness, he was still preaching weekly at the Four Seasons Retirement Community in Winder and occasionally at Open Door Baptist Church in Flowery Branch where he was a member.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ora Mae Davis. Surviving are his son, Philip Davis, Sr. and his wife, Lynda of Buford; sister, Leila Howard of Wyandotte, MI; brother, Howard Davis of Redford, MI; 3 grandchildren, Cheryl Davis, Lisa Davis and Philip Davis, Jr.; several nieces and nephews.
